Precedent before pattern matching
It searches the full history for the merchant, then for the week. The Anchor Light Inn folio sets the context: a family reunion, four days in.
It knows where you were
Location history puts the owner at the restaurant for 2 hours and 51 minutes. The merchant matches exactly, so the charge is real. The size still is not explained.
It asks instead of guessing
The amount conflicts with a normal restaurant read, so it escalates. The owner’s ruling becomes a standing rule: purpose, not place. Locus cites it from then on.

Locus, in plain terms.
Locus is a personal finance application. You connect your bank accounts through Plaid, and Locus helps you understand and categorize your spending: it investigates each charge, shows its reasoning, and files the charge where it belongs.
You can sign in to Locus with your Google account. That sign-in asks only for basic profile information, your name and email address, which Locus uses to create and identify your account. It does not give Locus access to your Gmail, your Google Drive, or anything else you keep with Google.

So the categories finally mean something.
A reimbursement nets against the charges it repays. Rent lands in the month it paid for. A dinner you covered for the whole family is a reunion cost, not everyday dining. When every charge sits where it belongs, where the money went stops being a guess.
